This year\u2019s inaugural event took place at the wonderful Underglobe on London\u2019s Bankside, with a shortlist of hopefuls that included companies as St\u00f6lzle Oberglas, Allied Glass and many more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.allied-glass.com\/files\/images\/BLACK%20BOTTLE1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allied-glass.com\/files\/images\/BLACK%20BOTTLE1.jpg\" alt=\"Image of Black Bottle by Allied Glass\" width=\"340\" height=\"551\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><i>Black Bottle Whisky<\/i> by Allied Glass<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parfumo.net\/perfum_imagery\/8\/7\/30060_e3e1d477a8608e81c9e19f546cf4df7f.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.parfumo.net\/perfum_imagery\/8\/7\/30060_e3e1d477a8608e81c9e19f546cf4df7f.jpg\" alt=\"Rogue by Rihanna\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><i>Rogue by Rihanna<\/i> by Glass St\u00f6lzle Oberglas<\/p>\n<p>The awards are organised by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.packagingnews.co.uk\/\">Packaging News<\/a>, and run in conjunction with the annual easyFairs\u2019 Luxury Packaging exhibition and conference. The awards aim to showcase the most inventive and original designs from around the world in a range of categories from food and drink to cosmetics, perfumes, bags and tobacco products.<\/p>\n<p>The nominees are judged by a panel of industry experts on several different criteria, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quality and innovation in graphics, decoration, shape and structure.<\/li>\n<li>Functionality.<\/li>\n<li>Shelf stand-out.<\/li>\n<li>How the pack adds value to the brand.<\/li>\n<li>Luxury feel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The winners were announced on September 29<sup>th<\/sup> in front of a special V.I.P crowd; here are our reactions to the winners, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rajapack.co.uk\/\">from Rajapack\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/kezia-gray\/47\/77a\/268\">Senior Buyer Kezia Gray<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/hector-au\/4a\/376\/639\">Purchasing Manager Hector Au<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Drinks Primary Pack<\/b> \u2013 <i>Tanqueray No Ten<\/i> by Allied Glass<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.allied-glass.com\/files\/imagecache\/page_top_image\/tanqueray_10_luxury_packaging_allied.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allied-glass.com\/files\/imagecache\/page_top_image\/tanqueray_10_luxury_packaging_allied.jpg\" alt=\"Tanqueray Glass\" width=\"960\" height=\"335\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Kezia really liked this new take on the Tanqueray bottle. It was reminiscent of the Art Deco period with its classical, yet contemporary styling. Kezia felt it was definitely an improvement on the current bottle and it looks an expensive, premium product.<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Drinks Secondary Pack<\/b> \u2013 <i>Glengoyne 25-year-old Highland Single Scotch Whisky<\/i> by PPS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/Glengoyne-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/Glengoyne-web.jpg\" alt=\"Image of Glengoyne Whiskey\" width=\"372\" height=\"451\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Hector regarded the design as very old fashioned and doesn\u2019t think this is pushing the boundaries much in terms of the \u2018Whisky bottle in a box\u2019 theme.\u00a0 The design evokes ideas of a late 19<sup>th<\/sup> and early 20<sup>th<\/sup> century heritage.<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Perfume Pack<\/b> \u2013 <i>Tresor Repack<\/i> by Stolzle Oberglas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/stolzle-lancome-tresor-image.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/stolzle-lancome-tresor-image.jpg\" alt=\"Tresor Repack by Stolzle Oberglas\" width=\"372\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Kezia thought the design was very old fashioned for the perfume market. She wasn\u2019t sure what demographic the product was targeted to. For her it wasn\u2019t enough of an inspiring design to warrant being on the winner\u2019s list.<\/i><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Cosmetics &amp; Personal Care Pack<\/b> \u2013 <i>GENEU Airlift Pump System<\/i> by Toly Products UK<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/GENEU-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/GENEU-web.jpg\" alt=\"GENEU Airlift Pump System by Toly Products UK\" width=\"372\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Both Hector and Kezia found it difficult to understand what this product could offer you from the packaging alone. For Hector it reminded him of a late 90s Armani perfume or after shave dispenser.<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Jewellery &amp; Accessories Pack<\/b> \u2013 <i>New Accurist Watch Box<\/i> by Hunter Premium Packaging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/Accurist-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/Accurist-web.jpg\" alt=\"New Accurist Watch Box by Hunter Premium Packaging\" width=\"488\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Hector thought that the packaging gave the product a more upmarket feel. However, he thinks that Accurist need to do more with the overall brand, to change perceptions of this brand. But nonetheless a valiant effort. <\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Luxury Food Pack<\/b> \u2013 <i>Aloha Gelato Box<\/i> by Pringraf<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/Gelato-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/Gelato-web.jpg\" alt=\"Aloha Gelato Box by Pringraf\" width=\"570\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>This evokes memories of American style take away Chinese food packaging. But one thing was on Hector and Kezia\u2019s minds in terms of how the frozen ice cream filled fruits were insulated within the packaging. Was there a polystyrene inner layer that we could see from the photos?<\/i><b><br clear=\"all\" \/><\/b><i><\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Luxury Tobacco Pack<\/b> \u2013 Dunhill Special Reserve Limited Edition Global Travel Retail Pack by Webb DeVlam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/Dunhill-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/Dunhill-web.jpg\" alt=\"Dunhill Special Reserve Limited Edition Global Travel Retail Pack by Webb DeVlam\" width=\"496\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Both Kezia and Hector felt that there was more packaging than there was actual product. But they agreed it had a very upmarket look. Wouldn\u2019t look out of place in a Gentleman\u2019s club or an old fashioned smoking room.<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Luxury Shopping Bag<\/b> \u2013 <i>Rose Demi Sec La Montina<\/i> by Gruppo Cordenons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/Rose-Demi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/d3hjf51r9j54j7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/09\/30\/luxury-packaging-awards-2014-winners-revealed\/Rose-Demi.jpg\" alt=\"Rose Demi Sec La Montina by Gruppo Cordenons\" width=\"442\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Kezia liked the bag for its very contemporary look \u2013 she regarded it as a modern, Mediterranean take on a typical upright bottle packaging concept. Perfect for hot, summery weather.<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Special Edition<\/b> \u2013 <i>Bombay Sapphire Laverstoke Mill Distillery Limited Edition<\/i> by Webb deVlam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-9KVx2xjq1H4\/UlaIQFbF7pI\/AAAAAAAA9Yc\/u4GWlayA8-o\/s1600\/BOMBAY+SAPPHIRE_DISTILLERY_LE+BOX+BOTTLE_34_BLUE_RGB.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-9KVx2xjq1H4\/UlaIQFbF7pI\/AAAAAAAA9Yc\/u4GWlayA8-o\/s1600\/BOMBAY+SAPPHIRE_DISTILLERY_LE+BOX+BOTTLE_34_BLUE_RGB.jpg\" alt=\"Bombay Sapphire Laverstoke Mill Distillery Limited Edition by Webb deVlam\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Not a massive departure from the iconic Bombay Sapphire standard bottle, it is more of an evolution says Hector. It is more see through and less opaque than the standard bottle and similar to the approach Cristal have followed with their champagne bottles.<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Innovation of the Year<\/b> \u2013 <i>Absolut Originality<\/i> by Ardagh Group<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ardaghgroup.com\/userfiles\/images\/news\/5277bf1115bfd.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ardaghgroup.com\/userfiles\/images\/news\/5277bf1115bfd.jpg\" alt=\"Absolut Originality by Ardagh Group\" width=\"918\" height=\"425\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Both Hector and Kezia preferred the standard bottle design with its italic script on the label rather than the blue vein design that runs through the glass. The shape of the bottle hasn\u2019t really changed that much, it\u2019s really only the label that looks different.\u00a0 But they both thought it was less exclusive looking than the standard bottle design.<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Best in Show<\/b> \u2013 Aloha Gelato Box by Pringraf<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pringraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/The-Luxury-Packaging-The-Solution-Award.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pringraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/The-Luxury-Packaging-The-Solution-Award.jpg\" alt=\"Aloha Gelato Box by Pringraf\" width=\"792\" height=\"248\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Both Hector and Kezia would have opted for other designs that were up for this award rather than the Gelato box.
