RAJA has always been a keen supporter of International Women’s Day and this year has been no different!<\/p>\n

2022 has shown how important International Women’s day still is – with women around the world still being displaced by conflict in Ukraine and the rights to an Abortion eroding in both the USA and Poland, it’s more important than ever to pay attention to the women of the world and stand up for their rights. The Daniele Markovici Foundation<\/a> has been busy this year, as always, and has\u00a0committed to a number of important causes. This has included charities such as Laafi<\/a> in Burkina Faso and GRET<\/a> in Vietnam.<\/p>\n

\"LAAFI<\/p>\n

But there’s still lots of work left to do. Men and women with equal rights in work, family and society \u2013 that is the ideal. However, women are still at a disadvantage, especially in professional life. However, the reality continues to show differences between the two sexes and it is mainly men who make a career and sit on the executive floors.<\/p>\n

While there are equalisations and efforts to achieve such, the\u00a0Gender Gap Report 2020<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0of the World Economic Forum (WEF) also shows:<\/p>\n

A sobering realisation, considering how great some of the inequalities we still face are.<\/p>\n

RAJA: A female success story<\/h2>\n

One of the reasons RAJA has always been so passionate about International Women’s Day is that RAJA itself is a female success story.<\/p>\n

It all started in 1954 in France with RAchel <\/strong>Marcovici, JAnine <\/strong>Rocher and a clever business idea. They sold used cartons, which they could offer much cheaper than new cartons. This is how the distribution company \u201cCartons RAJA\u201d was born. Soon the convincing product range made it possible to expand the assortment. After only five years, Cartons RAJA already had ten employees and a turnover of 1 million francs.<\/span><\/p>\n

38 years after its foundation, the first change of management is imminent. Dani\u00e8le Kapel-Marcovici officially takes over the management of Cartons RAJA in 1982 at the age of 36. Over the years, she optimises the company structure and establishes various departments.<\/p>\n

After Cartons RAJA has established itself in the French market, the next goal was to become the European number 1 in packaging. With an increasingly diverse product range, Dani\u00e8le Kapel-Marcovici also decides to rename the company from Cartons RAJA to RAJA.<\/p>\n

Between 1983 and 1992, turnover grows from 64 to 316 million francs. The team now numbers 190 employees and RAJA once again wins the packaging industry\u2019s \u201cOscar\u201d for its PadPak. The product also marks the start of the machines and systems segment.<\/p>\n

From 1994 onwards, the internationalisation of the RAJA Group begins with the takeover of Binpac in Belgium. In 1997 they moved into the Netherlands until, in 1998, the group purchased AID-PACK and rebranded it to Rajapack, which 2 years ago rebranded itself again to RAJA UK!<\/p>\n

Ongoing Charity Work<\/h2>\n

This year, the RAJA Group is donating to a number of women’s charities as voted for by each individual member of the group – the total donation will be resolved after the day itself, which we will update and share across our social media as soon as the finale figures are in.<\/p>\n

About the Raja-Daniele Marcovici Foundation 2006-2015<\/b><\/p>\n

Founded in 2006 on the initiative of Daniele Kapel-Marcovici, CEO of the Raja Group, the Raja- Daniele Marcovici Foundation supports community projects for women in France and around the world.
