Treasure Your Memories

Lots of us use a memory box to help us remember special times in our lives; from old ticket stubs to treasured photographs, physically holding onto something tangible helps us reminisce. The boxes themselves can range from something small and discrete, such as a basic cardboard box kept under the bed, to elaborately decorated wooden chests. But no matter where your store your keepsakes, it’s the memories inside that are special.

Do you have a memory box? If you do, we want to hear your stories!

Share your memories for the chance to win one of four £250 Amazon vouchers. To enter, send us an overhead image of your memory box, along with 50-100 words telling us exactly why you’ve held on to the items inside.

How to enter

Take an overhead photo of the contents of your memory box. Make sure you follow our Photo & Copy Brief steps below.

Write 50-100 words about your memory box and why the contents are special to you.

Send us an email attaching your image, description and full name at hello@joeblogsnetwork.com

The PHOTO & COPY brief

To help you get creative and capture images with impact we’ve provided a short photography and copy brief to guide you through producing your submission.

We’re looking for great overhead shots. Overhead images (or flat lay images) are images shot from directly above your object, with your camera at 90 degrees.

Good lighting is key to creating a great image. Use bright, natural lighting. Try and get a sunny day if you can and shoot near a window or even outdoors!

Use a flat solid colour background. Give your photos maximum impact by using solid white, blue or wood as backgrounds for your images!

Your images should be square - 1:1 ratio, in as high a resolution as possible.

You could show your keepsakes still nestled inside your box, or all laid out neatly in an interesting flat-lay composition. See some great examples below of interesting ways to do this.

Write a few words about your box answering questions like: Where is your box from – is it a basic shoe box? Was it made specially to hold your keepsakes? What do you keep in there? What do these items mean to you?
