The Oscar race may be long past, but awards season continues in the world of sustainable packaging.

Winning silver at the Environmental Packaging Awards for ‘Sustainable Packaging Company of the Year’ marks a major milestone for RAJA UK.  Committed to leading the way in sustainability, the company has been recognised as one of the unequivocal leaders in eco-responsibility.

Packaging plays a central role in helping our customers achieve their environmental goals. As sustainability standard-setters, we also aim to challenge suppliers and empower our workforce through education, making it simpler to choose more responsible solutions.

What have RAJA done?

Blazing a trail, we have introduced initiatives like our internal Green Team, CSR training and Environment Supplier Award. We also align with key principals by scoring products through the 5-R’s. All of these measures ensure sustainable packaging remains a shared responsibility.

“A win shows our continued commitment towards packaging in a circular economy,’ – RAJA sustainability champion, Philip Price.

Last year, RAJA UK earned EcoVadis Gold, placing us in the top 3% of businesses in our sector for sustainability performance, in our first ever submission. We’re also aligned to the Science Based Targets Initiative, reinforcing our long-term commitment to environmental progress, underpinned by data. Additionally, we have worked to improve the living conditions of women around the world, through the Action Programme for Women & Environment.

“Driving sustainability is truly a team effort; not only in how we work internally, but also in how we partner with our suppliers and build relationships with our customers. I’m excited about the progress we’ve made, and as a business, we’ll continue to challenge ourselves to keep pushing forward and make decisions today that we hope will create a more sustainable tomorrow.” – Emily Goss, Human Resources and Social Responsibility Director at RAJA UK

Working with others

Our sustainability strategy also puts emphasis on the role of our product and supply chain. Our team regularly reviews the range to stay up to date and render our offering fit for purpose in a world of changing requirements. We encourage customers to make reasonable product swaps where possible, in line with our eco-responsible goals.

RAJA keenly partners with suppliers and manufacturers who hold a similar commitment to improvement. We source through our Supplier Trading Agreement, aligning with our Responsible Purchasing and Sustainable Development Charter.

We introduced an Environmental Award at our annual Supplier Day.  This incentivises and encourages our supply chain to review their products in line with frequently adapting legislation. For 2025, Beaverswood proudly bagged the award.

Helping our customers win, sustainably
At RAJA UK, our choice is not just to lead in sustainable packaging, but to help our customers lead in their own industries. In a country where regulatory pressure, ESG commitments, and shifting buyer expectations are reshaping commerce, packaging has become a lever of competitive advantage. We’ve built our capabilities; from product scoring to supply chain collaboration to ensure our customers can act with speed, confidence, and credibility.

This award affirms our direction, but it’s our customers’ success that drives us. By aligning sustainability with practicality, we’re reducing impact and  unlocking value. Leadership means enabling others to lead too. That’s the business we’re in.
