Identify your cartons in storage or transit

This coloured vinyl tape is ideal for colour-coded carton sealing and visual identification in warehouse and despatch operations. Five colours in a single product range: black, green, light blue, red and yellow. The 35 micron PVC backing carries a natural rubber adhesive that grips paper, board, glass, wood, aluminium and plastic from 15°C to 65°C, capable of sealing cartons under 30kg. At 48mm wide on 66m rolls it fits standard pistol grip dispensers and can be torn by hand. PVC tape is not recyclable.

Sold in packs, priced per roll.

Where does coloured vinyl tape work best?

Anywhere a colour code system needs to be visible and hold up in variable conditions that would cause polypropylene tape to fail.

  • Warehouse colour-coding systems where each colour identifies a despatch route, priority level, product line or storage zone.
  • Operations in humidity-variable environments where moisture resistance is needed.
  • Cartons up to 30kg that need to remain clearly identifiable through multiple handling stages.

Not for

  • Cartons over 30kg: use heavy duty alternative for heavier loads.
  • Below 15°C: natural rubber adhesive loses tack at low temperatures; do not apply on cold carton surfaces.
  • Kerbside-recyclable packaging: PVC tape isn't recyclable; use self-adhesive paper tape where kerbside recyclability is required.

How to use

Natural rubber adhesive bonds on contact, but adhesion strength depends on surface cleanliness; contaminated or damp board is the most common cause of early seal failure on vinyl tape.

  • Clean the surface: Wipe away dust, grease and moisture. Natural rubber adhesive grips well on dry board but will peel back under load on a damp or contaminated surface.
  • Apply at 15°C or above: Natural rubber tack drops in cold conditions; if the warehouse is cool in winter, check that carton surface temperatures are within range before taping.
  • Tear or cut to length: The 35 micron PVC backing tears cleanly by hand at a sharp angle; for consistent lengths on a packing line a dispenser fitted with a 76mm core is faster.
  • Press firmly along the seal: Run a thumb along the full tape length; partial contact at the flap edge under load will cause the seal to open in transit.
  • Store correctly: Store at 15–25°C below 65% humidity. Shelf life is 12 months from manufacture.

Choose the right tape

Right for colour-coded carton sealing under 30kg where moisture resistance and visual identification matter. For heavier loads choose the heavy duty alternative; for operations requiring kerbside recyclability choose a paper-backed offering instead.

  • Choose this coloured vinyl tape when colour-coded carton identification is needed at standard packing widths in humid or temperature-variable environments.
  • Choose RAJA heavy duty vinyl packaging tape when cartons exceed 30kg or maximum resistance to tearing and bursting is needed.
  • Choose RAJA vinyl packaging tape when brown, clear or white is sufficient and a longer 100m roll or narrower width is needed.

Frequently asked questions

Can all five colours be used in the same dispenser without changing the setup?

Yes, all SKUs use a 76mm core and 48mm width, so any colour can be loaded into the same dispenser without adjustment between colour changes.

Is this coloured vinyl tape recyclable?

No, PVC material isn't accepted in the kerbside paper or plastic stream. Cartons sealed with this tape cannot be recycled at kerbside with the tape attached; for kerbside-recyclable colour-coded sealing, a paper-backed option is the correct choice.

Does PVC tape adhere to surfaces other than cardboard?

Yes, the natural rubber adhesive bonds to glass, wood, aluminium and plastic as well as paper and board, making it suitable for labelling mixed-material packaging or securing items to racking.
