Extra strong vinyl tape
Thick PVC tape is designed for heavy carton sealing and industrial applications where the standard vinyl alternative lacks the gauge for the load. The 58 micron PVC film and natural rubber adhesive handles cartons over 30kg and bonds to paper, board, glass, wood, aluminium and plastic from 15°C to 65°C. Available in brown, 48mm wide on 66m rolls on a 76mm core. PVC tape is not recyclable.

Where does this thick PVC tape work best?
It fills the gap between standard vinyl offering (under 30kg) and the filament or reinforced tape. The increased gauge gives greater tear and burst resistance without moving to a specialist tape format.
- Sealing heavy cartons over 30kg in warehouse, industrial and export operations where the standard vinyl option would split under load.
- Environments with sustained humidity or temperature variation where the PVC backing maintains its grip where polypropylene alternatives may fail.
- Applications requiring adhesion to mixed surfaces alongside cardboard, including glass, metal or plastic components on the carton exterior.

- Below 15°C: natural rubber adhesive loses tack in cold conditions; do not apply to cold carton surfaces.
- Kerbside-recyclable packaging: PVC tape isn’t recyclable; use paper alternatives designed for heavy loads where kerbside recyclability is required.
- Bi-directional load stress: for burst resistance in both directions on export loads use cross woven filament tape instead.
How to use
At 80 micron total thickness this is a noticeably stiffer tape than standard vinyl grades; full-width contact along the entire seal length requires deliberate firm pressure.
- Prepare the surface: Clean and dry the carton flap; the 58 micron PVC film doesn’t conform to surface irregularities as readily as thinner grades, so gaps caused by contamination or moisture are more likely to cause edge lift under heavy load.
- Use a dispenser: Load a 76mm-core pistol grip dispenser; the stiffer backing requires dispenser tension for a clean, controlled application and cut.
- Apply at 15°C or above: Natural rubber adhesive grips immediately at room temperature; applying to surfaces below 15°C risks a weak initial bond that may fail at the flap edge once the carton bears its full load.
- Press with firm, even pressure: Apply a firm tool or hand stroke along the full tape length; partial contact near the flap edge is the most common failure point on heavy loaded cartons.
Store correctly: Store at 15–25°C below 65% humidity. Shelf life is 9 months from manufacture; shorter than the standard vinyl alternative, so rotate stock on a first-in, first-out basis.

What makes this tape suited to cartons over 30kg when standard vinyl options aren't?
The 58 micron PVC film is substantially thicker than the 35 micron film on the standard grade; greater film thickness means more resistance to splitting under the stress of a heavy, loaded carton.
Why is the shelf life 9 months rather than 12?
The thicker PVC construction and heavier adhesive coat mean this tape should be used on a tighter rotation than the 12-month standard vinyl grade; order accordingly to avoid stock expiring before use.
Does this tape bond to surfaces other than cardboard?
