What is clear packing tape?

Clear packing tape is a transparent polypropylene tape used to seal and reinforce cardboard boxes. Also called transparent packing tape, it does the same job as brown tape but disappears against the box, which keeps branded or printed cartons looking clean.

Most clear tape uses a hot melt or acrylic adhesive on a polypropylene backing. Acrylic grades stay clear for longer and resist yellowing in storage or sunlight.

Clear polypropylene tape for everyday sealing

For general sealing, clear polypropylene tape at 28 micron is a strong clear tape that seals cartons up to 20kg. For a quieter unwind, the low noise packing tape does the same job without the screech across a busy bench.

Sealing heavier or overfilled boxes? Heavy duty low noise packing tape at 35 micron holds cartons over 30kg, and is a heavy duty clear tape that saves double-taping.

Choosing clear packing tape

Choosing clear packing tape comes down to weight and volume. Up to 20kg, a 28 micron grade is enough. For full or heavy cartons, step up to the 35 micron heavy duty grade. If you seal by hand all day, a low noise grade is kinder on the ears.
