Tough and quiet
RAJA heavy duty low noise polypropylene tape combines quiet unwind with the higher film thickness and weight capacity needed for heavier cartons. The polypropylene film carries a water-based acrylic adhesive with low peel resistance and it's the lower resistance that produces the quiet unwind while ensuring a strong bond. The adhesive is UV-stable and bonds reliably from -5°C to 60°C. Available in 48mm, 50mm, and 75mm widths, in clear and brown. Supplied on 66m and 100m rolls with a 76mm core.
Requires a dispenser to cut. Sold in packs, priced per roll.
What is RAJA heavy duty low noise packing tape best for?
This heavy duty low noise packing tape is the right choice when the packing environment is noise-sensitive, such as open-plan offices, shared despatch areas and retail back offices, and cartons are too heavy for the standard low noise grade.
- Sealing heavier cartons over 30kg in environments where unwind noise is a concern.
- High-throughput packing lines combining heavy carton volumes with a noise-reduced working environment.
- Operations exposed to UV light or variable ambient temperatures where an acrylic adhesive outperforms hot melt.
- 75mm width option for larger carton flaps or applications where a wider seal is needed for structural confidence.
Not for
- Below -5°C: for deep-freeze despatch below this threshold, a specialist cold-chain tape is needed.
- Light cartons under 20kg where noise is not a concern: the 28 micron standard low noise tape is a more cost-effective choice.
- Operations requiring kerbside recyclability: Polypropylene film isn't kerbside recyclable; use self-adhesive paper tape where recyclability is required.
How to use
The water-based acrylic adhesive bonds on contact and its low peel resistance is what reduces unwind noise.
- Check surface temperature: Apply at -5°C or above; acrylic adhesive maintains tack at cool ambient temperatures where hot melt may soften and fail.
- Load the dispenser: Fit the 76mm core roll into a pistol grip tape dispenser. A dispenser maintains consistent tension, which is important with low noise tape as uneven tension can cause the tape to stretch and reduce seal contact area.
- Seal the full carton seam: Apply with a 50mm overlap onto each carton face and press firmly along the full length; partial contact at flap edges is the most common cause of seal failure under heavy loads.
- Store correctly: Store at 15–25°C below 65% humidity. Shelf life is 12 months from manufacture.

Frequently asked questions
Why is low noise tape quieter than standard polypropylene tape?
Standard polypropylene tape uses hot melt adhesive, which has high peel resistance and snaps loudly on unwind; this heavy duty low noise tape uses acrylic adhesive with lower peel resistance, so it unwinds smoothly without the snap.
Does lower peel resistance mean a weaker bond?
No, peel resistance governs unwind noise, not bond strength on the carton; once applied, the acrylic adhesive provides a reliable seal on paper and board.
What is the difference between this tape and the standard RAJA low noise grade?
This heavy duty grade of this this heavy duty low noise parcel tape uses a thicker film, 32 and 35 micron vs the 28 micron of the standard. Both use acrylic adhesive and the same temperature range.
Can this tape be used in UV-exposed or variable-temperature environments?
Yes, this tape is UV resistant, and the acrylic adhesive maintains bond quality better than hot melt in fluctuating temperatures within the -5°C to 60°C range.
