Filament Tape

With the extra strength granted by the threaded filaments of our packing tape, it’s also a great alternative when you need to strap heavy goods. Both tear and burst resistant, our filament tape is perfect for when you need to either keep goods in storage or send them in transit.

What is filament tape?

Filament tape is an extremely strong packing tape that offers long-lasting grip when it adheres to most surface types. Made with threaded filaments through the length of the tape, at RAJA we offer both mono and cross woven filament tape. Our selection of filament tapes is made with a polypropylene backing but are formulated differently depending on the product type. Mono filament tape is designed with a single filament, whereas cross filament tape is reinforced with 2-dimensional fibreglass filaments that run across the tape (both along the width and length).

Regardless of which one you choose, if you buy filament tape, you’ll be rewarded with a long-lasting adhesive tape that is compatible with most paper or board surfaces. You can even use them as a stand in for your standard polypropylene strapping. That means you can easily bind unorthodox products or shipping boxes together easily which can cut down on packaging costs.

How do I use Filament Tape?

Filament tape is pressure sensitive, which means you have to apply force to ensure it sticks and adheres to your surface. For maximum efficiency, you need to ensure that the surface is clean and ready for tape application. If you find the tape isn’t properly adhering, try leaving it a while in a place that’s at room temperature (18°C). Sometimes, it can just be a case of leaving it to adhere properly – that means you might need to leave it before moving the box around.

Although you can use filament tape manually, you’ll find it easier using a filament tape dispenser. Especially useful during busier periods or for a workplace with higher volumes and sealing needs, utilising one of our dispensers will make sealing your cartons and boxes less of a chore.
